Trooper struck in the face by driver during traffic stop

New York State Police

State Police say a state trooper was hurt last week when a driver punched him in the face during a traffic stop on the Southern State Parkway.
The incident happened near Eagle Avenue when the trooper pulled over the suspect for an expired registration. When the trooper asked his driver’s license, the suspect threw his license and then struck the trooper.
Both the trooper and suspect were taken to hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
