Women’s roller derby league fighting Nassau County ban of transgender athletes

The Long Island Roller Rebels, a women’s roller derby team has asked a New York court to invalidate Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s order banning female sports teams with transgender athletes from using county facilities.

The lawsuit argues that the state’s human rights and civil rights statutes prohibit discrimination based on gender identity.
