A house fire in Central Islip broke out on Christmas Eve leaving five families without a home for the holidays. Flames tore through the house on Myrtle Ave on Sunday around 6pm. It took over two hours for ten fire departments to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
