Suffolk Police says it has been having issues with 911 service

The Suffolk Police Department says it has been having issues with at least one cellphone carrier that is causing disruptions to 911 call service within the county.
The department did not identify the specific carrier.
Residents who receive a fast busy signal when they call 911 are urged to hang up and call 631-852-COPS and follow the prompts to be directed to their police jurisdiction.
A similar problem is happening with the Town of Riverhead’s 911 system.
For Riverhead police, dial 631-727-4500.
The outage is only affecting mobile phones. Suffolk County police say it has not impacted emergency services. Officials are working to identify and fix the problem.
