New Yorkers can now purchase alcoholic beverages earlier on Sundays

The location is one of two that one gas station owner discovered a loophole in the law that allows them to sell cold beer. The location has installed limited seating and sells burritos, landing a restaurant classification and the right to sell cold beer. (AP Photo/Michael Conroy)

Gov. Hochul approved the new law allowing liquor stores to open at 10 a.m. on Sunday instead of noon.
The move will also allow retailers to sell beer before 8 a.m.
Gov. Hochul says the new legislation will help to modernize laws governing the sales of alcoholic beverages in New York.
The changes take effect immediately.
