Good Samaritan helps rescue driver after car flies into water in Freeport

A car drove into the canal Tuesday morning at a marina in Freeport.
Authorities believe the male driver was likely going at a high rate of speed when he drove over a bulkhead and a boat and landed in the water.
The Freeport Fire Department said the victim was removed from a submerged vehicle, initially with the help of a Good Samaritan named Volodymyr Zubko, who’s visiting from Ukraine.
Divers worked for hours to recover the car which damaged three boats when it went airborne.
The man was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition.
