Hempstead man charged with attempted robbery after smashing Macy’s jewelry case

A Hempstead man attempted to steal thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry Saturday from the Macy’s inside d Mall.
Police say Joshua Wilson came into the store with a baseball bat; he ran to the jewelry counter and used the bat to shatter the display cases in an attempt to steal the jewelry.
Three store employees ran and sought shelter in fear of their safety. Wilson fled the scene on foot but police said they located him less than an hour later and placed him under arrest.
