The Long Island Rail Road is making some changes for the weekend as tens of thousands are expected to visit New York City to ring in the New Year. The LIRR will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule and add ten additional evening westbound trains to Penn Station on New Year’s Eve, The additions include three from Port Washington, two from Babylon, two from Ronkonkoma and one each from Huntington, Speonk and Port Jefferson. Alcohol will also be banned on trains from noon on New Year’s Eve until noon New Year’s Day.
