New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Thursday that all new vehicles sold in New York must be zero emissions by 2035.

Hochul said she is directing the state Department of Environmental Conservation to take major regulatory action to achieve significant greenhouse gas emission reductions from the transportation sector.

She says the directive will also be complemented by new and ongoing investments including electric vehicle infrastructure and zero-emission vehicle incentives.

Hochul wants regulations reducing greenhouse gases by 85% by 2050.
