St. James, NY- A Brentwood man is hospitalized and said to be in critical condition, after an early morning accident at the intersection of Route 347 and Middle Country Road in St. James. Suffolk County Police say around 1:35 this morning, 35-year-old Matthew Basile, was driving a 2006 Hyundai sedan in the westbound lanes of Route 347 when he crashed into the side of a tractor trailer that was heading eastbound on Middle Country Road. Basile, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in with serious injuries. Officials say the driver of the tractor trailer, Marsali Abdellatif, 51, of New Jersey, was not injured. Police are asking anyone who may have been a witness to this accident to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
