(AP)-  New York City is keeping a mask mandate for children under 5 in place and will appeal a judge’s ruling that struck it down. Mayor Eric Adams said Friday the city will continue to require masks for children aged 2 to 4 in schools and daycare centers. Adams had said previously that the mask mandate for young children would be lifted on April 4 if coronavirus numbers remained low. New York City is now averaging just under 1,300 new cases of COVID-19 per day. That’s more than twice the number on the average day in early March.
