Wyandanch, NY-Two people were arrested in Wyandanch on Wednesday and two businesses were forced to close after Code Compliance Inspections found the businesses were not up to several fire codes and employees sold e-cigarettes to minors. Suffolk County Police Department say the Fifth Precinct, along with Community Support Unit officers and the Town of Babylon Code Enforcement personnel, conducted inspections at Rollies Smoke Shop and Alla Convenience Inc, both located on Straight Path in Wyandanch.
At Rollies Smoke Shop, 1525 Straight Path, a clerk, Umair Azam, 33 of Flushing, NY was charged with one count of sale of e-cigarettes to a person under the age of 21 and one count of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child. The business was issued seven citations from the Town of Babylon Fire Marshal, one citation from the Town of Babylon Plumbing Inspector, and five other Town of Babylon code violation citations.
The clerk at Alla Convenience Inc., Yousef Fadhel, 34, of 1641 Straight Path, Lindenhurst, was charged with one count of sale of e-cigarettes to a person under 21 years old. The business was issued two citations from the Town of Babylon Fire Marshal, one citation from the Town of Babylon Plumbing Inspector, and five other Town of Babylon code violation citations.
Both businesses were placarded and closed by the Town of Babylon. The arrestees were issued Field Appearance Tickets and will be arraigned at a later date.
