Wrong way driver arrested on charges including DWI after 2 crashes on Rt25a

East Shoreham, NY- Police say a wrong way driver, was drunk when he crashed into two vehicles along Route 25a on Tuesday night in the towns of East Shoreham and Rocky Point. Suffolk County Police say, John Madden, 49, of Rocky Point was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Route 25a around 8:40pm, when he first crashed into a 2020 Subaru and continued driving a quarter mile before crashing into a 2013 Chrysler. Police say the driver of the Subaru was not injured, the driver of the Chrysler was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Madden, was charged with Driving while Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
