(Smithtown, NY)- A Long Island family says the woman they hired to watch their children, took more than $15,000 in jewelry from the families home. Suffolk County Police say Amparo Hoyos Garcia, 69, of Patchogue worked for the family on Grassy Pond Drive in Smithtown and took items from the home between December 22, 2021 and January 19, 2022 valuing more than $15,000. Following an investigation, Hoyos Garcia, was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree. Police say Hoyos Garcia, also works for other families as a nanny and cleaning houses.
