State Police investigate crash that killed a 4-year-old girl from Riverhead

(Riverhead, NY)- Officials say a 4-year-old Riverhead girl has died from injuries received in a crash that happened last week with her mother behind the wheel. New York State Police say Gracelyn Perowski’s mom, Amy Wesolowski, 34, of Riverhead was driving a 2005 Toyota Rav 4 on January 13, 2022 when she collided with a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan on Flanders Road (RT 24) in between Long Neck Blvd and Pleasure Drive. The occupants of both vehicles were transported to nearby hospitals. Gracelyn, 4, died from injuries sustained in the collision on Sunday, January 16, 2022.

Gracelyn’s mom, Amy Wesolowski, was originally arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, an A-Misdemeanor, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, an A-Misdemeanor and Aggravated DWI with Child, an E-Felony.

New York State Police are investigating the accident and asking anyone with information to call 631-756-3300.
