Man arrested for DWI after serious crash on the Long Island Expressway

Hauppauge, NY- Suffolk County Police arrested a man for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a man and himself in Hauppauge this morning.

James Todarello was driving a 2002 Mercedes Benz and Nolan Grant was driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the westbound Long Island Expressway near Exit 57, when the vehicles crashed at 2:04 a.m. The Mercedes overturned on the roadway, and the Jeep, which also overturned, traveled over a guardrail and up an embankment before coming to a stop on the shoulder.

Todarello, 72, of Coram, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Grant, 57, of Medford, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.

Grant was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
