Lifeguard shortage prompts beach closures

Huntington, NY- A shortage of available lifeguards has prompted the Town of Huntington to officially call an end to the summer beach season at four of eight town beaches.

Effective Thursday, August 26, 2021 the following Huntington Town beaches will remain closed for swimming.

  • Asharoken Beach, Eaton’s Neck Road, Northport
  • Crescent Beach, Crescent Beach Drive, Huntington Bay
  • Fleets Cove Beach, Fleets Cove Road, Centerport
  • Gold Star Battalion Beach, West Shore Road, Huntington

Officials say “residents may visit the beaches closed to bathing but they must stay out of the water”.
