Jet Skier rescued from Long Island Sound

Rocky Point, NY- A Rocky Point man was rescued Wednesday night from the Long Island Sound after a friend reported to police that he had gone out on his Jet Ski hours earlier and hadn’t returned. Marine Bureau Officers located an unoccupied Jet Ski off shore and then found its owner, 60-year-old Douglas Gordon, who wearing a life jacket, was trying to swim to shore. Police say Gordon had been in the water for about three hours and was about a 1/4 mile away from his Jet Ski and still about 3/4 of a mile off shore. Gordon was taken onboard the police boat and transported to shore, where he refused medical treatment.
