State to crack down on underage drinking at Summer Concerts

East Farmingdale, NY-  New York State Officials say starting this week they’ll be cracking down on underage drinking at Summer Concerts at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Ampitheater. As part of Operation Prevent, a state initiative to curb underage drinking and driving, anyone underage caught with a fake id buying alcohol could be ticketed and have their license taken away for a minimum of 90 days or up to one year.  According to a press release from Governor Cuomo’s office in 2019, “DMV investigators carried out enforcement sweeps at 127 locations statewide. A record 918 fake IDs were seized and a record of 1,016 citations were issued to people attempting to buy alcohol while underage”.
