Huntington Senior facilities scheduled to reopen after pandemic forced closures

Huntington, NY-  The Town of Huntington is getting ready to reopen several Senior Citizen facilities after being shuttered by the coronavirus pandemic.  Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci stated, “We are thrilled to welcome back our senior residents for activities and dining at our Senior Center and fun at the Senior Beach House. Please call our Senior Division staff to reserve your spot!”

 

SENIOR BEACH HOUSE 

239 Little Neck Road, Centerport, NY. (631) 261-9186 

Open 7 Days (Mon-Sat 10:00am-4:00pm, Sun 12:00pm-5:00pm)

Reopening Monday, June 28 (Closed Sunday, July 4 & Monday, July 5): 

  • Maximum 50 people indoors (additional allowed outdoors)
  • No reservation required (first-come, first-served)
  • Limited to currently registered seniors
  • Vaccinated only (accommodations made if not vaccinated, must show doctor’s proof of exemption)
  • Mask required indoors (except when eating or drinking)
  • Temperature taken daily
  • No games played indoors (card games, Mahjong, chess, etc.)
  • Cottage closed (no Art classes, Harbormaster, or music at this time)

ADULT DAY CARE

Weekdays (Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:00pm) by Appointment, Reserve 1-5 Days per Week

Reopening Monday, June 28 (Closed Monday, July 5): 

  • Maximum 10 seniors daily (reserve 1-5 days per week)
  • Limited to registered ADC clients (call for an assessment)
  • Vaccinated only (accommodations made if not vaccinated, must show doctor’s proof of exemption); if with aide, aide must be vaccinated
  • Mask required indoors (except when eating, drinking or exercising)
  • Temperature taken daily
  • Hot meals served
  • Assessments: In-House (call ahead)
  • HART Bus transportation available

MONDAYS: 

The Home Delivered Meal Program will continue with the meal pickup drive-through at the Senior Center or delivery of (5) frozen meals on Mondays.* 

Meal pickup and delivery of five (5) frozen meals will be delivered on Tuesday, July 6, due to the closure of Town facilities on Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day.

TUESDAYS – FRIDAYS: 

The Senior Center will be opening in a limited capacity by reservation Tuesday through Friday only for activities starting June 29 and for meals starting July 13*. Reservations may only be booked one day in advance for both or each. Please see details below. 

*Dining room meals will take place Tuesday through Friday in the dining room for those not picking up meals on Monday of the same week. You may choose to do a Monday 5-meal pickup one week and do a dining room reservation another week. Reservations are first-come, first-served and must be booked one day in advance, no exceptions.

  • Limited to currently registered seniors
  • Vaccinated only (accommodations made if not vaccinated, must show doctor’s proof of exemption)
  • Mask required indoors (except when exercising)
  • Temperature taken daily
  • 1 or 2 activities per day (exercises and BINGO, no card playing at this time)
  • Varied, limited activities based on instructor availability
  • Must enter and exit through door with red awning
  • No meals included (see below, Dining Room access starting July 13 but you must make a separate reservation for dining room access)

DINING ROOM ONLY (NO ACTIVITIES)
