Hampton Bays, NY- Join the New York Marine Rescue Center on Friday, June 11th at Tiana Beach in Hampton Bays, when they release, “Janis Joplin”. Janis, a female gray seal pup, was found be a local beach walker at Meadow Lane in Southampton, NY on March 4th. She was admitted to the NYMRC with a severely swollen hind flipper. After receiving antibiotics to counteract the infection in her flipper, Janis has been cleared for release by our veterinarian and NOAA.
The release will start promptly at 5 pm. Per CDC guidelines, social distancing rules will be in place and all guests will be encouraged to wear a mask.
