Man arrested after stealing vehicle at gunpoint in Melville

Melville, NY-  Two people were robbed at gun point outside a Melville restaurant on Wednesday morning and police say the thief, took off with their car and lead them on a chase that ended in Medford.  Officials say at approximately 12:45 a. m. on Wednesday morning, two people were approached in the parking lot of Cirella’s Restaurant, 14 Broadhollow Road, by a man with a gun who took off with their car.  Police say the vehicle, a 2005 BMX X3, was spotted on Long Island Avenue in Medford and failed to stop when police tried to pull the vehicle over.  Officers deployed stop sticks on Mill Road in Medford and after the vehicle stopped, the driver ran off.  Jahmohri Mitchell, 21, of 11 Mastic Blvd. West, Shirley, was eventually found by police around 1:30 a. m., and was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree and Resisting Arrest.  Mitchell will be held at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 10.
