Syosset, NY- Police on Long Island say a drunk driver crashed into a 3-year-old girl who was out for a walk with a relative on Monday afternoon. Nassau County Police say Datt Varum, of 40 Ann Drive was driving a 2020 Hyundai on Ann Drive near Betty Street when he struck a three-year-old girl and a 33-year-old man on the sidewalk before hitting a parked vehicle. Police say the little girl suffered abrasions to her face and legs. The man suffered facial fractures. Varum, 36, was charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, Assault 3rd Degree, and Driving While Intoxicated 1193. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, June 01, 2021 in Mineola.
