Man rescued from house fire

Shirley, NY-  Police say they rescued a man from a house fire on Sunday night in Shirley.  Officials say they responded to a 911 call of smoke coming from a house located at 246 Floyd Road just before 8 p. m..  Suffolk County Police Officers entered the house and found a 51-year-old man on the second floor.  The man was safely removed from the house and evaluated on scene.  One Police Officer was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of smoke inhalation.  The cause of the fire is being investigated.
