Teenager arrested after leaving the scene of a fatal crash

Central Islip, NY-  Suffolk Police say they arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a fatal car crash that happened on Thursday night in Central Islip.  Officials say the teenager, was traveling eastbound on Locust Ave in a BMW when he struck the passenger side of a southbound Honda Accord.  The impact sent the Honda Accord into oncoming traffic where it was struck on the drivers side by a northbound GMC pickup truck.  Officials say the teenager fled the crash scene on foot and was later arrested.  The driver of the Honda, a 52-year-old Brentwood woman, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.  The 17-year-old was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death.  He is scheduled to be arraigned on April 16th.  Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS or the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555.
