A fire in Roosevelt early this morning leaves 13 families homeless

14 fire departments respond to fire in Roosevelt early this morning, the fire at the building on Nassau Road began around 1 a.m.

A near by car and trailer were also on fire.

Police helped evacuate about 15 residents, while an additional 10 to 15 people were evacuated from nearby homes. Thirteen families lost their homes in the blaze. The Red Cross is now helping the displaced families.

No one was injured. The fire’s cause is unknown.
