Police say man fired weapon at them during pursuit

NORTH BABYLON, N.Y. (AP) — A Long Island man is facing charges after a shot allegedly was fired during a police pursuit. The incident occurred Saturday in North Babylon. Suffolk County police say an officer attempted to pull over a Nissan Maxima driven by 22-year-old Tahlik Brown for traffic violations at approximately 2:20 p.m. Brown then allegedly drove away and struck two other vehicles, then got out of the car and ran through the parking lot of a strip mall. During the pursuit, one shot was allegedly fired. Police say Brown was captured in a nearby garage and a gun was recovered in a swimming pool. Brown was scheduled to appear in court Sunday.
