(East Farmingdale, NY)-  A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Long Island beginning Thursday morning and continuing into Friday afternoon.  A storm system over the Midwestern and Southern United States will move into our area on Thursday morning.  WALK-FM Chief Meteorologist Pat Pagano says the storm should arrive by daybreak on Thursday and get heavier as the day continues.  Pagano, “lets not grab at straws over an inch or two here and there.  Just like so many storms this year, this one may not be all snow and the fact that it may mix or alternate with sleet and or freezing rain will interfere with total accumulations”.  The storm will last from daybreak on Thursday into Friday evening.  When the storm finally ends on Friday night, expect 6-10 inches of snow and ice for most of Long Island– lower amounts on the east end with 4-8 inches of accumulation is possible.
