(Commack, NY)- A man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly kidnapped his girlfriend’s baby. According to police, on Saturday, February 13, Sherman Roberts Jr., took his girlfriends child, 2-year-old Dio Palermo, from the child’s home on Mooreland Rd in Commack. The child’s mother Zakiya Mitchell, called police around 1:30 on Saturday morning to report the incident. Roberts Jr., 36, was said to be driving Mitchell’s, 2008 black Mazda Tribute at the time the child was reported missing. Roberts Jr. and the child were located unharmed on Saturday morning. Roberts Jr., is was arrested on charges including Kidnapping, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Roberts Jr., will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 15.
