Second winter storm blankets Long Island

(East Farmingdale, NY)  The second winter storm in under a week dropped up to nine inches of snow on parts of Long Island on Sunday.  According to the National Weather Service,  residents in Melville saw the most snowfall from the Super Bowl Sunday storm, with nine inches recorded.  On the South Shore residents in Merrick recorded five inches of snow and the NWS reported six point four inches at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip.  Monday morning’s commute on Long Island was icy and slick in spots, with temperatures below freezing.  Drivers are encouraged to slow speeds, especially on secondary roadways, entrance and exit ramps.
