Long Island prepares for a wintery mix

(East Farmingdale, NY)  All eyes are on the weather today across Long Island as officials prepare for a blast of wintery weather.  A storm system that blanketed parts of the mid-west with snow is expected to arrive in the northeast sometime this afternoon.  WALK-FM Meteorologist Pat Pagano, says we might see about 1-2 inches of snow across Long Island before a change over to rain.  Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, “Our Department of Public Works has 23,000 tons of salt on hand and we will have trucks out treating the roads as needed and more ready to roll if any plowing is necessary.  Nassau County’s Office of Emergency Management is closely monitoring the situation and is in constant contact with local municipalities, the Nassau County Police Department,  PSEG-LI, National Grid, Red Cross, NICE Bus, LIRR and others to coordinate efforts if necessary”.
