Over 1100 people tested positive for COVID in Suffolk on Thursday

(East Farmingdale, NY)-  Yesterday the United States, recorded more COVID-19 cases and fatalities than at any other stage so far in the ongoing pandemic. Johns Hopkins University recorded more than 217 thousand cases in the US on Thursday.

Long Island is also seeing an increase in cases and hospitalizations and some Long Islanders have been waiting in long lines to get a COVID test.  Lines wrapped around the building and parking lot at CityMD locations in Selden and Lake Grove earlier this week and the number of people infected continues to climb.  In Suffolk County on Thursday officials said over 1100 people tested positive for COVID-19, a 6% positivity rate.  In Nassau County officials reported over 750 new daily coronavirus cases on Thursday.

The combined 7 day average for both Suffolk and Nassau Counties on Thursday was at 4.5%.

State and local officials continue to urge residents to practice social distancing, wear masks and wash hands.
