(East Farmingdale, NY)-  Some parents on Long Island are concerned about if or when their children schools might close down after the news broke on Wednesday, that New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, cancelled in person classes for its nearly 1 million public school students. The metric used for closing The New York City public school system is a 3% positivity rate for 7 days.  For Long Island, the metric to close school is different than the city.  Long Island must have a 9% positivity rate for 7 days to prompt school closures.  Currently the combined 7 day average for COVID-19 positive cases in Nassau and Suffolk County is 3.3 %.
