(East Farmingdale, NY)- Route 109 was closed for hours Friday morning in between East Farmingdale and Lindenhurst, after a dump truck with an excavator, crashed into a utility pole. Police say the accident which cracked the utility pole happened at 5:41 a. m.. The eastbound and westbound travel lanes of Route 109 were closed for several hours for the repairs. At 10:30 a. m., Suffolk County Police report all lanes were reopened. At 11:49 a. m., the Department of Transportation announced that the right lane was closed again westbound at Wellwood Avenue.
