Cops: Bay Shore Mom arrested on charges including DWI after driving into a house

A Bay Shore mom was arrested Sunday night after cops say she drove drunk with her three kids in the car and crashed into a house.  Police say the 34 year old mother crashed her 2004 Lincoln Navigator into a house at 46 Blue Jay Drive in Brentwood, around 6:40 p. m. on October 4, 2020.  Authorities say Ashley Thomas-Smith’s daughters ages, four, five and eight, were in the vehicle at the time of the collision.  Thomas-Smith and the three children were transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for evaluation.  The three children were uninjured and released to the custody of their father.  Thomas-Smith was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and arrested on charges including Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15-Years-Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law) and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 5.
