Suffolk County Executive to announce budget cuts to health services

In this Monday, April 24, 2017 photo, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone speaks at a press conference in Hauppauge, N.Y., where he vowed to take action against the MS-13 street gang. MS-13 has been blamed for a trail of nearly a dozen corpses of mostly young people discovered in woods and vacant lots in Brentwood and neighboring Central Islip since the start of the school year. At right is Evelyn Rodriquez whose daughter, Kayla Cuevas, was killed in September 2016 in what prosecutors said was one of those killings. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone’s office say the County Executive will announce on Wednesday that Suffolk County “will have no choice but to make catastrophic budget cuts to contract agencies that receive County funding without significant federal disaster assistance”. Bellone’s office says that “without federal help, the county will be forced to slash funding at unprecedented levels for agencies that provide services for the most vulnerable”.
