Police ask for witnesses to call after serious crash Friday night near Bald Hill

Suffolk County Police are asking anyone who witnessed a serious crash on County Road 83 in Farmingville on Friday night, to call the Major Case Unit.  Officials say the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of County Road 83, just north of South Bicycle Path on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 5:06 p.m..  Police say 31 year old Erika Bautista of Farmingville, was driving with her three daughters inside a 2015 Honda when her vehicle became disabled in the right lane.  Police say a 2018 Jeep driven by Chris Montpetit struck the back of Bautista’s vehicle.

Erika Bautista and her daughters Melissa Bautista, 4, and Lizabeth Bautista, 8, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries. Ruby Bautista, 10, was transported to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

Montpetit, 36, of Shirley, was arrested at the scene for Driving While Intoxicated. He is being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on September 26.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553.
