Cops: Patchogue man arrested after his car flew into a Suffolk County home

Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested a man after he drove his vehicle into a house in Medford and fled the scene. Officials say that Jose Argueta Garcia was driving a 2002 Honda at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, which struck the second floor of a house on Bellport Avenue at approximately 8:10 a.m. A woman in the house suffered an eye injury and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.

Argueta Garcia fled the scene on foot and was apprehended a short time later. Argueta Garcia, 22, of Patchogue, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. He was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash with Injury and Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash with Property Damage. He was also issued three summonses and a Field Appearance Ticket. The Town of Brookhaven Building Inspector was called to the scene to assess damage to the structure.
