Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Southampton Town Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the person or people who created hazardous conditions in the Sag Harbor nature trails in August. An unknown person or people are tying hunter green parachute chords across the trails in an attempt to deter dirt bikes and ATV riders. The chords are difficult to see and may cause serious physical injury or death. In this incident on August 7 at approximately 6:15 p.m., a juvenile rider was seriously injured when a parachute cord caught him by his neck and threw him from the ATV. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
