Wrong Way driver arrested after police chase on the Long Island Expressway
Suffolk County Police this morning arrested a driver traveling the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway.  Authorities say Christian Vasquez was driving two adult passengers in a white Nissan sedan westbound on the eastbound LIE, west of exit 63, in Holtsville at 3:14 a.m. Authorities say that Highway Patrol officers attempted to pull over the driver, and he did not stop.  Suffolk Police Officers placed stop sticks in the roadway at exit 52, and after the Nissan drove over them, the tires deflated, and the vehicle stopped on the off ramp at exit 51.
Vasquez, 28, of Patchogue was charged with DWI. He is being held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 17.
