Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone on Tuesday called on President Donald Trump and Congress to deliver federal disaster assistance for counties dealing with budgetary shortfalls and increased costs caused by the COVID-19 crisis.

Bellone’s office said the “Executive Orders signed by President Trump fail to provide any federal disaster assistance to counties who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response” and that “without federal assistance, county employees and local taxpayers across New York State will face enormous hardships and burdens as the counties look to cope with the financial damage”.
