Nassau County opens cooling centers for thousand without power

With thousands on Long Island without power the day after Tropical Storm Isaias, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced on Wednesday that Nassau County had opened cooling centers for residents to help beat the heat.

Cooling center locations that will be open today include:

  • Cantiague Park  – 480 W John St, Hicksville, NY:  Open 12pm – 6pm
  • Wantagh Administration Building – 1 King Rd, Wantagh, NY:  Open 12pm – 6pm
  • North Woodmere Park – 750 Hungry Harbor Rd, Valley Stream, NY: Open 12pm -6pm

**All Nassau County pools and golf courses are closed.

Cooling Centers will be following the State’s guidelines to prevent spread of COVID-19.  Anyone who arrives without a mask will be provided one.
