Thousands of Long Island commuters were stranded on Tuesday after Tropical Storm Isaias toppled trees and power lines along the Long Island Rail Road tracks.  On Tuesday evening, Long Island commuters packed Penn Station waiting for an update on how they might get home.  The LIRR said that crews were working “around the clock to remove fallen trees, downed utility poles and repair track/signal damage”.

On Wednesday morning service remained suspended on the Montauk, Oyster Bay, Port Washington Branches.
