Warnings issued for LI as Tropical Storm Isaias roll up east coast

Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, around 11 o’clock Monday night.  Isaias was weakened to a Tropical Storm after making landfall and is continuing its path moving quickly up the east coast in a north-northeast direction.

The National Weather Service has issued the following watches and warnings for Long Island.

  • Tropical Storm Warning in effect until further notice.
  • Tornado Watch in effect until 4PM on Tuesday. 
  • High Surf Advisory in effect until 8AM on Wednesday.
  • Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until until 2AM on Wednesday.
  • Coastal Flood Warning in effect until 1AM on Wednesday. 
  • Flash Flood Watch in effect until 6AM on Wednesday.

WALK Meterologist Pat Pagano says the “fast moving storm could bring some dangerous squalls to Long Island around mid-afternoon“.  Pagano also said that, “Tropical Storm Isaias, should be out of our area by 6pm this evening“.
