2 boys on bikes, seriously injured in a hit and run crash in Ronkonkoma

Two children on bicycles were seriously injured Monday night in a hit and run crash in Ronkonkoma.  Suffolk Police say three boys were bike riding on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 7:34 p.m. on Express Drive North, 500 feet east of Old Nichols Road, Ronkonkoma, when two of the boys were struck by a westbound vehicle.  The driver fled the scene.

Police say 9 year old Troy Russel of North Amityville, was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition. 12 year old Toriano Jamison of Ronkonkoma, was transported via ambulance to the same hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The third bicyclist, 6 year old Maximus Copeland of Ronkonkoma, was not injured.

Tuesday morning police police announced they arrested 31 year old Shannon Palmer of Hauppauge.  Cops say Palmer was charged with two counts of Leaving the Scene of an Incident with Serious Physical Injury.
