Homeless men arrested for stealing copper from empty homes

Suffolk County Police arrested two homeless men for allegedly stealing copper from multiple vacant homes in May and June of 2020.  During an investigation into a string of burglaries involving copper being stolen from vacant homes, Suffolk detectives identified Christopher DelRio and Daniel Voisin as suspects in several of the burglaries. Detectives were able to match a Kia Sedan owned by a family member of Voisin to one described by witnesses at the scenes. Following the investigation, DelRio was arrested at approximately 7:15 a.m. on June 28 on College Road in Selden. Voisin was arrested on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge at approximately 11:45 a.m. on June 28.. DelRio and Voisin were charged with stealing copper from multiple homes in Centereach, Medofrd, Coram, Gordon Heights and Selden.  DelRio was also charged with stealing copper from two additional homes in Selden and two additional homes in Coram.  DelRio, 28, undomiciled, was charged with nine counts of Burglary 3rd Degree., Voisin, 27, undomiciled, was charged with five counts of Burglary 3rd Degree. DelRio and Voisin were arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on 6/29/20
