On this day in 1912, the Titanic set sail on the ships very last voyage. The events that occurred inspired the 1997 movie, Titanic, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won 11! One of those awards was for Best Original Song for “My Heart Will Go On” sung by Celine Dion… it’s perhaps her biggest song and she has a lot!!
Titanic was also the first film to reach the BILLION DOLLAR MARK at the Box Office, becoming the highest grossing film of the time until 2010 when Avatar came out… both films directed by James Cameron.
