As many as 350 Wendy’s locations across the United States may shut down before the end of the year, following a wave of closures throughout 2024.

Interim CEO Ken Cook said Friday that the company is targeting “consistently underperforming” restaurants in an effort to “boost sales and profitability at nearby locations,” CNN reported.

Wendy’s operates roughly 6,000 restaurants nationwide. Cook’s statement that a “mid single-digit percentage” of domestic locations would close translates to an estimated 200 to 350 restaurants potentially being shuttered, according to the outlet.

It’s not yet clear which locations will be affected, and the company has not released details on how many employees may lose their jobs. It’s also unknown whether workers at closing stores could be offered positions at nearby Wendy’s restaurants.
