A new Suffolk County initiative is already proving lifesaving. Just days after police vehicles were stocked with EpiPens under Gio’s Law, officers used the device to save 72-year-old Greg Kronrad, who went into anaphylactic shock after a bee sting at his Wyandanch business.
Police quickly administered epinephrine and other treatments until paramedics arrived. The law, named after Gio Cornago—who died in 2013 from a severe allergic reaction—requires certain police units to carry EpiPens.
