A missing infant from the East End of Long Island was found in Delaware

Hampton Bays, NY-  Police on Long Island say a missing infant from Hampton Bays, was found safe in Delaware on Thursday night.  Southampton Town Police say the child, a 6-month-old baby girl, was first reported missing by her father on Thursday, July 15th but that the child had actually been missing since Tuesday, July 12th.  Police say the father believed his child was in the custody of her mother, Sarah Payne, of Shelter Island, and that Sarah had possibly traveled to Wilmington, Delaware.  Southampton Detectives, the US Marshall’s Office and Wilmington Police found the child in Wilmington, Delaware with Sarah Payne.  Payne, lost custody of her child in January, 2021 and now faces charges including Kidnapping, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Contempt when she is returned to is returned to Long Island.  According to a press release from Southampton Town Police, the infant is unharmed and with the Delaware Child Protective Services.
